It’s simply an outline of facts for nearly everything encompassing Infusion Nursing. This would be a good reference material for nurses in the field to simply read a quick outline of something they may have forgotten. But as a nurse studying for the CRNI exam, this is literally just a list of facts via outline. No thorough physiological explanations, no points of interest, no concepts or themes. Just one book of outlines. The best way to study for the CRNI exam by far is the INS DVD series they offer. It’s kind of pricey so if you had to pick, definitely pick the DVDs. Then you can use this book as a quick reference on specific questions. Or better yet, the book Infusion Nursing: An Evidence Based Approach is awesome.

I got the e-book and I am disappointed that it only gives "location" and not "page" number. I had intended to use this as a citable reference in Bibliographies, etc.

Overall a good review of IV nursing for CRNI exam but I found a few inconsistencies between the two with differing information.

I purchased a number of these books for my daughter who is now deceased. She greatly enjoyed doing these puzzles and they provided hours of entertainment for her. Sometimes we shared the puzzles while waiting in numerous doctor’s offices. I kept a couple of them and put them away in a memory box after her death.

My 80 yr old mother is trying to keep her brain active and I knew she loves these kinds of puzzles. I bought this one and she’s like a kid with a new phone, can’t put it down. She quickly worked through the book and I had to go back and order several more along with maze puzzles. She also liked the fact that it is spiral bound. If it keeps her brain working then I’m all for it!

This book has been great. During the holidays, I scanned several pages and printed enough copies so that everyone could play. We would say which puzzle to start and kept score by who finished in what place – we all loved it.

Great family fun; I also did puzzles while waiting at the barbershop.

As a fan of Joseph Campbell and amateur writer, this book really appeals to me. It is more than just a how-to for aspiring novelists, it is a how-to for life. It is geared toward the writing of novels and stories with human drama and interaction, which makes it a bit more specialized. If you want a more general but very good reference for writing in general, then I recommend Simon & Schuster Handbook for Writers (8th Edition) (MyCompLab Series) — it is worth it’s weight in gold.

Back to the book at hand. Christopher Vogler’s 3rd edition TWJ is actually a very compelling read rather than a dry textbook sort of how-to. It is a very clear and readable application of J. Campbell’s theories about the mythic structure in film and book. The inclusion of the 6 Star Wars movies and their epic story arc makes for very interesting reading too. Delving into this book reveals ways to better create strong characters with depth and substance that will help set any story apart. Its study of mythology gives it a strong classical foundation from which a writer can draw upon in the creation of their own epic sagas.

The author has worked on such films as The Thin Red Line, Fight Club, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast so have no doubt that he knows his stuff, and presents in well in this 365 page gem. Vogler shows you how to go beyond the normal everyday writing (emails, letters, articles, etc.) to tackle the daunting task of structuring a novel that is thousands of words in size.

If you have yet to publish a novel but are an aspiring writer, add this to your list of required reads.
From page one, Christopher Vogler evidences his sincere passion for the theories of Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung. This is his book’s greatest asset. Even in the introduction, he reflects on the applicability of the "Hero’s Journey" to everyday life, rendering what is otherwise a mere literary and mythological structure into a life philosophy that will certainly have the capacity to assuage those readers who may find themselves, from time to time, in "the belly of the beast" or among any number of "threshold guardians." Moreover, Vogler establishes himself early on as an expert, occupying countless positions in Hollywood and particularly in Disney’s animation department.

But regardless of his passion and his experience, Vogler does not transform his book into anything but a watered-down rehash of Joseph Campbell’s theories. Yes, these theories may prove more relevant to the layman since Vogler elects to justify the Hero’s Journey through contemporary examples rather than Campbell’s esoteric myths; he frequently refers to a small cache of pop culture films to illustrate each of the hero’s faces and stages. However, the reader should never be fooled: this is diluted Joseph Campbell, and Vogler is even so bold as to slightly re-imagine the stages of the journey to fit his own whim. The fault of the book is that "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" is such an accessible masterwork, with ideas so cogent and convincing, that a book like Vogler’s–which aims to make Campbell’s ideas applicable to the writer–seems almost superfluous. In short, there is little for the screenwriter to learn here that he couldn’t have learned better and more meaningfully from Campbell.

An amazing book full of important information. Review for the profession is very good and test preparation outstanding. For its size, it is an encyclopedia of information.

I just took my exam today and waited to write the review. First off, the practice test would not load off the CD and it took a week to get an answer from technical support. They had to email me a link to download the CD information to my computer. There are issues with the test as there was with the CNA Exam Cram. The book goes into too much specifics about different medications and not enough about the job duties, which happened to be about a third of the exam. The exam alerts are in black boxes with white lettering making the book difficult to read and sometimes entire pages are in in that format. It would have been great if they included an example of a MAR and what to do in different scenarios. I took the exam and maybe 10% of the questions on the licensing exam were covered in this book. I’d read this book cover to cover multiple times and so many of the exam questions weren’t covered. I passed but I don’t think this particular book was much help. There is a site that offers free online test that covers the same info. I only purchased this book as my particular school required it.

This book has been very helpful, highly would reccommend for any future medication techs or Cnas provided tons of extra information that made taking the test much easier.

The Man in the High Castle is Dick’s masterpiece. Along with VALIS and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, it completes the trilogy of the author’s essential works. A must read for Dickheads or for anyone who considers himself a serious fan of science fiction. Dick was clearly influenced by two earlier works of alternative history, Sarban’s The Sound of His Horn and C. M. Kornbluth’s "Two Dooms". In turn, The Man in the High Castle has influenced any number of later works, not just Norman Spinrad’s The Iron Dream and the novels of Harry Turtledove, but Ursula LeGuin’s The Lathe of Heaven as well.
This is a very complex, suspenseful novel, consisting of four main plot lines and a host of characters whose lives sometimes interact. Don’t expect any slam-bang pyrotechnic action here, despite the novel’s provocative premise. It’s more a slice of life tale, showing that even after a catastrophic defeat, life in America would go on. Dick is very good at detailing the nuances of life in Axis-ruled America. For example, at one point as an aside, it is pointed out that after the Nazi pograms, the only surviving prewar comedian is Bob Hope, and even he has to broadcast out of Canada. Also, an unintended irony for a novel written in 1962 is Dick’s conjecture that if the United States had lost WWII, we would all be listening to Japanese audio equipment and driving German cars now. The author achieves the near impossible feat of actually being even-handed towards the Nazis without glamorizing them. He describes them at one point as Neanderthals in white lab coats, technological geniuses who have drained the Mediterranean and are conquering the Solar System, yet are morally bankrupt.
OK, first let’s get one thing out of the way – this is a great book, and it’s absolutely irrelevant if you label it "science fiction," "alternative history," or whatever. Except for the purposes of book marketing, who cares anyway? The bottom line is that Philip K. Dick was too complex and intelligent a man for his work to be pinned down into any one genre. And who would want it to be?!? On one level, or course, "The Man in the High Castle" is – at least on the surface and on the jacket cover – about an alternative time line in which America loses World War II (with the Nazis taking over East of the Mississippi, the Japanese West of the Rockies, and the middle being a kind of backwater/no-man’s land). But what is this book really about? My conclusion after reading the book, as well as many of the reviews here and out there on the web, as well as some stuff about Philip K. Dick, as well as talking to a really smart friend of mine who has read the book many times, is that this book is about several main themes, and can be read on several different levels (as most great works of fiction can be).
Thus, in my opinion "The Man in the High Castle" is about, among other things (in no particular order): 1) the lives of Americans under Japanese occupation; 2) the lives of the Japanese occupiers, and especially their interaction with various Americans – white, black, Jewish; 3) the Japanese-German relationship, and the difference in Japanese and German culture; 4) what is the nature of "reality"?; 5) what is "authentic" and what is "fake"?; 6) what constitutes a moral life?

As a fan of Joseph Campbell and amateur writer, this book really appeals to me. It is more than just a how-to for aspiring novelists, it is a how-to for life. It is geared toward the writing of novels and stories with human drama and interaction, which makes it a bit more specialized. If you want a more general but very good reference for writing in general, then I recommend Simon & Schuster Handbook for Writers (8th Edition) (MyCompLab Series) — it is worth it’s weight in gold.

Back to the book at hand. Christopher Vogler’s 3rd edition TWJ is actually a very compelling read rather than a dry textbook sort of how-to. It is a very clear and readable application of J. Campbell’s theories about the mythic structure in film and book. The inclusion of the 6 Star Wars movies and their epic story arc makes for very interesting reading too. Delving into this book reveals ways to better create strong characters with depth and substance that will help set any story apart. Its study of mythology gives it a strong classical foundation from which a writer can draw upon in the creation of their own epic sagas.

The author has worked on such films as The Thin Red Line, Fight Club, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast so have no doubt that he knows his stuff, and presents in well in this 365 page gem. Vogler shows you how to go beyond the normal everyday writing (emails, letters, articles, etc.) to tackle the daunting task of structuring a novel that is thousands of words in size.

If you have yet to publish a novel but are an aspiring writer, add this to your list of required reads.
From page one, Christopher Vogler evidences his sincere passion for the theories of Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung. This is his book’s greatest asset. Even in the introduction, he reflects on the applicability of the "Hero’s Journey" to everyday life, rendering what is otherwise a mere literary and mythological structure into a life philosophy that will certainly have the capacity to assuage those readers who may find themselves, from time to time, in "the belly of the beast" or among any number of "threshold guardians." Moreover, Vogler establishes himself early on as an expert, occupying countless positions in Hollywood and particularly in Disney’s animation department.

But regardless of his passion and his experience, Vogler does not transform his book into anything but a watered-down rehash of Joseph Campbell’s theories. Yes, these theories may prove more relevant to the layman since Vogler elects to justify the Hero’s Journey through contemporary examples rather than Campbell’s esoteric myths; he frequently refers to a small cache of pop culture films to illustrate each of the hero’s faces and stages. However, the reader should never be fooled: this is diluted Joseph Campbell, and Vogler is even so bold as to slightly re-imagine the stages of the journey to fit his own whim. The fault of the book is that "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" is such an accessible masterwork, with ideas so cogent and convincing, that a book like Vogler’s–which aims to make Campbell’s ideas applicable to the writer–seems almost superfluous. In short, there is little for the screenwriter to learn here that he couldn’t have learned better and more meaningfully from Campbell.

An amazing book full of important information. Review for the profession is very good and test preparation outstanding. For its size, it is an encyclopedia of information.

I just took my exam today and waited to write the review. First off, the practice test would not load off the CD and it took a week to get an answer from technical support. They had to email me a link to download the CD information to my computer. There are issues with the test as there was with the CNA Exam Cram. The book goes into too much specifics about different medications and not enough about the job duties, which happened to be about a third of the exam. The exam alerts are in black boxes with white lettering making the book difficult to read and sometimes entire pages are in in that format. It would have been great if they included an example of a MAR and what to do in different scenarios. I took the exam and maybe 10% of the questions on the licensing exam were covered in this book. I’d read this book cover to cover multiple times and so many of the exam questions weren’t covered. I passed but I don’t think this particular book was much help. There is a site that offers free online test that covers the same info. I only purchased this book as my particular school required it.

This book has been very helpful, highly would reccommend for any future medication techs or Cnas provided tons of extra information that made taking the test much easier.

The Man in the High Castle is Dick’s masterpiece. Along with VALIS and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, it completes the trilogy of the author’s essential works. A must read for Dickheads or for anyone who considers himself a serious fan of science fiction. Dick was clearly influenced by two earlier works of alternative history, Sarban’s The Sound of His Horn and C. M. Kornbluth’s "Two Dooms". In turn, The Man in the High Castle has influenced any number of later works, not just Norman Spinrad’s The Iron Dream and the novels of Harry Turtledove, but Ursula LeGuin’s The Lathe of Heaven as well.
This is a very complex, suspenseful novel, consisting of four main plot lines and a host of characters whose lives sometimes interact. Don’t expect any slam-bang pyrotechnic action here, despite the novel’s provocative premise. It’s more a slice of life tale, showing that even after a catastrophic defeat, life in America would go on. Dick is very good at detailing the nuances of life in Axis-ruled America. For example, at one point as an aside, it is pointed out that after the Nazi pograms, the only surviving prewar comedian is Bob Hope, and even he has to broadcast out of Canada. Also, an unintended irony for a novel written in 1962 is Dick’s conjecture that if the United States had lost WWII, we would all be listening to Japanese audio equipment and driving German cars now. The author achieves the near impossible feat of actually being even-handed towards the Nazis without glamorizing them. He describes them at one point as Neanderthals in white lab coats, technological geniuses who have drained the Mediterranean and are conquering the Solar System, yet are morally bankrupt.
OK, first let’s get one thing out of the way – this is a great book, and it’s absolutely irrelevant if you label it "science fiction," "alternative history," or whatever. Except for the purposes of book marketing, who cares anyway? The bottom line is that Philip K. Dick was too complex and intelligent a man for his work to be pinned down into any one genre. And who would want it to be?!? On one level, or course, "The Man in the High Castle" is – at least on the surface and on the jacket cover – about an alternative time line in which America loses World War II (with the Nazis taking over East of the Mississippi, the Japanese West of the Rockies, and the middle being a kind of backwater/no-man’s land). But what is this book really about? My conclusion after reading the book, as well as many of the reviews here and out there on the web, as well as some stuff about Philip K. Dick, as well as talking to a really smart friend of mine who has read the book many times, is that this book is about several main themes, and can be read on several different levels (as most great works of fiction can be).
Thus, in my opinion "The Man in the High Castle" is about, among other things (in no particular order): 1) the lives of Americans under Japanese occupation; 2) the lives of the Japanese occupiers, and especially their interaction with various Americans – white, black, Jewish; 3) the Japanese-German relationship, and the difference in Japanese and German culture; 4) what is the nature of "reality"?; 5) what is "authentic" and what is "fake"?; 6) what constitutes a moral life?
