In this text, Dr. Rev. Siang-Yang Tan provides a comprehensive and practical overview of psychotherapy and integration. The first two parts focus on practice, theories, and techniques that any psychology student (whether in a secular school or seminary) will find helpful. The third section offers a Christian approach to counseling, with illustrative examples that bring theory into real-world application. Dr. Tan’s scholarly and fine-tuned writing make these chapters easy-to-follow, yet packed with information. He has distilled the most up-to-date and relevant research into a book that is sure to become a classic in seminaries and churches all over the world. I highly recommend this to students, professors, pastors, and anyone else looking to expand their counseling skills. Thank you Dr. Tan!

This is a great reference for Christian counselors and psychotherapists. Whether student or professional, this is the new Jones and Butman for you.

The only downside is there is not as exhaustive amount of information as I would like about more modern theories such as Feminist Theory, Solutions-Focused, and more of the Postmodern theories.

All in all, great information on integration of Psychology with Christianity!

I am a grad student at a secular university. This was extremely helpful on helping me know how various psychological theories blend with the bible. I also plan to practice as a Christian counselor. This book was refreshing and very insightful.

Life Inside the Bubble: Why a Top-Ranked Secret Service Agent Walked Away from It All Hardcover – November 19, 2013
Author: Visit ‘s Dan Bongino Page ID: 1938067363

About the Author

Dan began his career in law enforcement with the NYPD in 1995. He joined the ranks of the Secret Service in 1999 as a special agent where he was assigned to investigate financial crimes. In 2006, Dan entered into duty with the elite Presidential Protective Division in the administration of President George W. Bush. He remained on protective duty during the change in administration to President Barack Obama. He resigned from the Secret Service in 2011 to run for a senate seat in Maryland.

Hardcover: 208 pagesPublisher: WND Books; 1 edition (November 19, 2013)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 1938067363ISBN-13: 978-1938067365 Product Dimensions: 6.3 x 0.8 x 9.2 inches Shipping Weight: 13.6 ounces (View shipping rates and policies) Best Sellers Rank: #75,513 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #97 in Books > Politics & Social Sciences > Politics & Government > Specific Topics > Law Enforcement #98 in Books > Law > Criminal Law > Law Enforcement #143 in Books > Politics & Social Sciences > Politics & Government > United States > Executive Branch

"Life Inside the Bubble" by Dan Bongino is the story about a man who went from being a cop and secret agent, to eventually completely abandoning his career and embarking upon the dark water of policy.

Dan Bongino started his career as member of NY Police Department, in his home city where he was raised since he was born in Queens.
Although he grew up modestly, from the start of his career he gradually started ascending the hierarchy by successful realization of his tasks, gaining greater and more important jobs that eventually led him to become a member of elite Presidential Protective Division in White House.

Because of all the things he experienced while working as secret agent, together with his own beliefs he decided to leave a long career in which he was successful.
Instead he resigned from the Secret Service in 2011 and decided to enter into uncertain world of politics, running for the United States Senate against the Democrats.

In his book he described his entire life so far, not neglecting any period, speaking about his childhood, time he spent in NYPD, the stories about him becoming Secret Service agent and time he spent working there.

And though I guess that due to his political beliefs, the book (as well as this review) will be probably a priori rejected from all those who think differently, I suggest that you dedicate some time and even if you think otherwise give it a chance (at least borrowing it from your local library).
The book is decently written and provides some information that would be of interest to every American citizen.

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this book last week before it hit the shelves. This is a compelling biography about a former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino and his life struggles. Bongino’s story begins in Queens, NY as a child. His family was poor and life was tough. He talks about his time with the NYPD and how he landed a job with the Secrete Service. It’s packed with plenty of stories in between.

Those of you who felt compelled to write a negative review of this book should now go back and actually read it. Don’t pull a Pelosi, it’s so obvious that you never read the book because you don’t know what’s in it.

I per-ordered 3 books for Christmas gifts and will order a few more. Great job Dan Bongino, I can’t wait for the sequel!

Former Agent Dan Bongino has added a fine volume to the cannon of works on the Secret Service. I salute you, sir: you are a dedicated public servant and best of luck in all you do. Great book- very well written! Mr. Bongino speaks well on television, as well, and this book speaks just as well.

Psychodynamic Psychiatry in Clinical Practice 5th Edition

Psychodynamic Psychiatry in Clinical Practice 5th Edition
Author: Visit ‘s Glen O. Gabbard Page ID: 1585624438

About the Author

Glen O. Gabbard, M.D., is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and Professor of Psychiatry at State University of New York in Syracuse. He is also Training and Supervising Analyst at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies in Houston.

Hardcover: 639 pagesPublisher: Amer Psychiatric Pub; 5 edition (April 16, 2014)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 1585624438ISBN-13: 978-1585624430 Product Dimensions: 9.2 x 6.3 x 1.2 inches Shipping Weight: 2.1 pounds (View shipping rates and policies) Best Sellers Rank: #65,132 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #108 in Books > Textbooks > Medicine & Health Sciences > Medicine > Clinical > Psychiatry #175 in Books > Health, Fitness & Dieting > Psychology & Counseling > Psychiatry #1281 in Books > Medical Books > Medicine > Internal Medicine

Gabbard cogently sums up the main categories of contemporary psychodynamic theory and has written a handbook that usefully guides the clinician in approaching clients from a psychoanalytic/psychodynamic perspective. Gabbard is well-versed in the research on efficacy, which is important in the era of evidence-based practice. Psychodynamic practice has not only a long history and a vast literature, but in recent years psychodynamic practice has been researched in well-designed studies and there is abundant evidence of its effectiveness for certain conditions and disorders.

Gabbard has entirely reorganized the text from the fourth edition. He held off until the DSM-5 was published, then reordered chapters and moved sections around to reflect the clinician’s universe in 2014.

All in all, a wonderful book, and I am now going to look into his other American Psychiatric Association press texts.

Previous editions were cheaper, printed in much larger type and on thicker paper. This is almost impossible to read for anyone over 40 and printed on razor-thin paper. Gibbered and publishers have lost perspective.

Excellent, well-researched and helpful. Thank you, Dr. Gabbard!

Not the easiest textbook to read, could be written with much more clarity and much less nonsense. I ad to buy this for a class though and didn’t have much choice. My other tax books were written more coherently.
